The Largest Amethyst Crystals - This is one of the most incredible amethyst finds ever made in Thunder Bay. Truly gigantic crystals of deep purple, gem grade amethyst. This specimen is unlike any other crystals ever found. These massive crystals, with deep purple bodies, have a unique secondary termination crown or “cap” of smokey quartz on top of the original purple points. The top smokey caps also have complex multi-facet crystallization patterns, some of which contain a small amount of red iron inclusions found only in Thunder Bay amethyst. We've been digging Thunder Bay amethyst for over 40 years and have never seen anything like this. These are, by far, the largest Thunder Bay crystals we’ve ever excavated and are among the largest ever found by anyone in North America. We hit this crystal pocket in September 2021. This is the largest and best group of crystals from that excavation. Specimen itself weighs 43.2 pounds. Estimated shipping weight 65 pounds. Crating charge $100 plus shipping charges will be added to winning bid.
